  18. Encarta runs well on Windows NT with the following exceptions which are
  19. noted in the README.WRI file in the root directory of the Microsoft Encarta
  20. 1994 edition:

  25. The Windows NT version of the CinePak video decompressor from SuperMac was
  26. not officially released and tested when Encarta 1994 was completed.
  27. Therefore, only the standard Windows decompressor is included, so videos do
  28. not play on Windows NT.
  29.  
  30. If you have a non-Intel Windows NT machine (that is, a MIPS or Alpha
  31. processor) then you will need to manually install two DLLs that do not have
  32. the 80386 code found in the DLLs installed by default.

  34. These files are in the ENCARTA\NT directory on the CD and are called
  35. ENC94IMG.DLL and POEMWINC.DLL. To install these files, do the following:
  36.  
  37.  - Do a complete setup of Encarta. Choose the "Faster" installation option
  38.    so that the files to be replaced run from the hard disk drive.
  39.  
  40.  - Copy the two files from the ENCARTA\NT directory on the CD into the same
  41.    directory you designated in Setup (C:\ENCARTA by default). These files
  42.    replace the ones Setup copied there.

  44. NOTE: On non-Intel architectures, the Encarta Dictionary/Thesaurus should
  45. not be run since it will cause your system to stop responding (hang).
